PLACES TO EXPERIENCE DURING YOUR NEXT BEACH DATE NIGHT

Are you looking forward to a fun date night during your Pleasure Island vacation? Whether you’re visiting soon for a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway or any other time of the year, there are plenty of fun places to create memories with your loved one. We asked our staff to give us insight on some fun date night spots; listed below are a few of their favorites.

DELICIOUS LOCAL EATERIES

“I personally love The Deck House, a craft beer at The Fat Pelican, and playing disc golf at Good Hops Brewery,” says vacation specialist Kelsey. At The Deck House, Kelsey’s favorite appetizer to order is their hot crab dip. She said you have to try the Filet Mignon or the Steak and Legs, which is a generous portion of steamed Alaskan snow crab legs and a 6-ounce grilled sirloin served with your choice of sides. Kelsey also raved about The Fat Pelican and its unique customer experience. There is a self-service beer cooler located in the trailer of an 18-wheeler truck packed with hundreds of different craft beers. Pick out which craft beer you’d like to try and take it up to the counter to pay. She said to try the Highland Brewing Pilsner; it’s her favorite.

Our Head of Housekeeping and Linens, Kristen, shared that she loves enjoying a romantic meal at Soul Flavor. Kristen’s personal favorites from Soul Flavor are the chicken and noodles and any seafood specials they offer. She notes that the portions are large, so you can share with your date or take some home and have a fantastic lunch the next day. If there is a wait at the restaurant when you arrive, Kristen suggests sitting at the bar enjoying a cocktail while waiting for your table. Her personal favorite is their Moscow Mules.

Havana's

Havana’s Fresh Island Restaurant has delicious food and romantic lighting. They have outdoor seating options and occasionally have live music. It is also within walking distance to the boardwalk”, says Emily, our Head of Maintenance.

Jenn, our General Manager, also agreed with Emily regarding Havana’s. She also loves going to Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar because it’s the only oceanfront restaurant on the island that’s not on a boardwalk. They have a laid-back atmosphere with a great menu. You’ll love the spectacular ocean views!

WALK ALONG THE BEACH

Sunset at Kure Beach

You can also take your loved one’s hand and head down to the beach for a leisurely sunset stroll. The sunset can make for gorgeous vacation photos, and you can even do a little beachcombing while you’re at it.

EXPLORE THE BOARDWALK

During the summer, there is a carnival to explore at the boardwalk. The carnival is closed during the off-season, but the bars and restaurants remain open. Fork N CorkCarolina Smokehouse, and Seawitch Tiki Bar are some of our favorites. The Carolina Smokehouse has a rooftop deck where you can take in the ocean views while enjoying a drink and a bite to eat. The Seawitch Tiki Bar offers live music Thursday–Sunday. Up for an adventure? Stop by the Tony Silvagni Surf School, which is near the boardwalk, to rent bikes. It’s fun to ride bikes around and explore the island.

TAKE A SELF-GUIDED TOUR

The Carolina Beach Mural project is a non-profit organization that uses public art to celebrate Carolina Beach’s rich history. So far, there are nine murals throughout the town, and you can enjoy a free self-guided tour of the murals. Visit their website for descriptions of the murals and their location. From there, you can map out your date night to make it a night you and your loved one will remember for years to come.
