Fall Events in Carolina Beach
On Saturday, October 29th, the young ones will enjoy a Halloween-themed version of Story Time by the Sea! Wear your favorite costume and join Fairytales and Dreams by the Sea for storytelling and crafts. Three Princesses will host this magical program at the Kure Beach Ocean Front Park at 10:00 a.m., and it's a free event. You'll want to have your camera handy for photo opportunities!
The Cape Fear Kite Festival will take place November 5th through 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Fort Fisher State Recreation Area in Kure Beach. Serious kite flyers, spectators, and novices will enjoy kites of striking colors and all sizes.
I attended the Cape Fear Kite Festival last year, and it was mesmerizing watching those massive colorful kites soar in the fall breeze. Whether you're serious about kite flying or just there to watch, the live music, arts and craft vendors, and food trucks make it worth the drive.
Planning a Thanksgiving stay at Carolina Beach or Kure Beach? We can't talk about fall at the coast without mentioning the great fishing and seafood you can enjoy later in the year. For an experience the big kids won't forget, book a fishing charter to catch Spanish mackerel, mahi, or tuna.

From my experience, fall is hands-down the best season to visit Carolina Beach State Park. I've hiked Sugarloaf Trail three times, and the birdwatching in October and November surpasses any other time of year.
